NOLLYWOOD: Mercy Johnson Is Pregnant?

It is now glaring that Nigerians help married people count the days and months after a marriage, as all they are interested in is what follows after a marriage-pregnancy.
Almost a year after she tied the knot with her beau, Prince Odianosen Okojie, the talented actress is expecting her first child. Linda, the popular acclaimed blogger has announced to Nigerians that Mercy Johnson is pregnant, and that she personally confirmedthat from her publicist who declared it true.
It is always a thing of joy to expect a new life being born into this world, and for a celebrity like Mercy, the feeling of having a new being kicking inside is one of the greatest that could happen, and most just prefer it better than being a celeb itself.

Neighbours later rushed Edmund to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, where doctors have been battling to save his badly damaged face and left eye. The right eye was damaged beyond redemption.
Edmund Educhukwu
Narrating his ordeal to P.M.NEWS, at the Intensive Care Unit of the UCTH, the final year student of Education Technology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calabar said he and Dorothy have been lovers for some years  and that they spent the night before the day of the attack together
“We even had passionate sex that night.  It was in the morning that she did this to me without any fight.”
On what may have prompted the lady to inflict such damage on his body, he said that “Dorothy had once complained that some people had told her that I was dating another lady whom I intend to marry and abandon her after these several years together.  But I reassured her that it was not true that people were only trying to destroy our relationship.  It did not occur to me that she was still harbouring the grudge,” he said.
He said the morning the incident happened, they woke from bed without any sign of trouble and he led her on morning devotion. “It was when I was rounding off the prayers with my eyes still shut that she sneaked out and brought the paint rubber where she hid the acid and oured it on me.”
He said his girlfriend who is from Agwagwune in Biase area, Cross River State like himself,  attacked him while he was not wearing a shirt, so that the acid would have maximum impact on his body.
“After pouring the acid on me she said ‘if the God you are praying to supports your plan, I will now see the woman that will accept you with your eyes blind and face destroyed’ and she ran away”.
Doctors at the UCTH confirmed that one of Edmund’s eyes had been completely destroyed while the second one could be salvaged.
“He needs a skin transplant and adequate care for the other eye to be restored at least for him to see with it and that cannot be done here but outside this country, perhaps in UK or USA, ” our source said.
DSP John Umoh, the Public Relations Officer for the Cross River Police Command said the woman has been arrested and is currently in detention.

OPINION: Is David Babalola A Prophet Of Doom?

He predicted the recent Dana plane crash, which claimed the lives of over a hundred and fifty Nigerians. Famous man of God and preacher, Prophet (Dr) David Babalola, General Overseer of His Presence Redemption Ministries International, Ikeja, Lagos has said that a young president would emerge from Edo State to offer a lasting panacea to this the troubled entity called Nigerian. He however warned about another yet-to-come tragedy.
The cleric at a recent media chat said that the danger is not yet over for the aviation industry as another disaster would take place in no distant time. “At the risk of being labeled a prophet of doom, I want to warn that there is a more serious disaster looming in the air space of this country,” Prophet Babalola cautioned.
He further forecasted that two airlines, one of which is owned by an indigene of Delta State, would have their licenses withdrawn as an aftermath of the coming disaster.
Nevertheless, his message is not entirely apocalyptic. There was a ray of hope concerning his foresight about the state of the nation particularly with regard to the spate of incessant killings by terrorists in the northern part of the country.
In spite of the violence, he proclaimed that God will bring back peace to the country. He said: “I do not know how he is going to do it but he has revealed to me that, he has decided to bring peace to the country,” he affirmed.
Below is a catalogue of his prophecies, some of which according to him were revealed to him as far back as January 7, 2012.
1. Another air crash is imminent on or before December 2012
2. Death of one of the state governors in the country.
3. Demise of a serving Minister in the country.
4. A man called Mr. Douglas, working with Mr. President should pray because God wants to heal him for a purpose. He needs to avoid some things to guarantee his total restoration.
5. A serious flood at Lekki, Parkview and Oniru areas will claim many lives
6. There should be prayers for Queen Elizabeth against untimely date. The UK should expect two Kings in quick successions.
7. Ministers of God, a prominent general overseer and a woman of God, will pass on this year. Not for evil but for good; as their assignments on earth has been concluded. One is from the east; the other is from the west.
8. President Ellen Sirleaf-Johnson of Liberia should pray against sickness. She will be terribly sick.
9. A young president by revolution is coming from Edo State to bring peace forever to our nation, Nigeria.
10. The Lord told me, the only airline that is safe to fly is Air Nigeria.
11. We should pray for a former Senate president for sound health.
12. The Lord revealed to me that Central Bank governor, Lamido Sanusi and Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State are planning to become leaders of this country as President and Vice President.

2012 BUDGET: We Are In Support Of Jonathan's Impeachment - CNPP

image

Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has thrown its weight behind the resolution of the House of Representatives last Thursday that President Goodluck Jonathan either implements the 2012 Appropriation Act 100 per cent by September or face impeachment.

The CNPP in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu and made available to National Mirror, said that the resolution was “patriotic, germane and timely,” adding that “the violation of the Appropriation Act, especially when the money is there, is tantamount to violation of the social contract between the government and the people.”

The House resolution had disclosed that so far, the 2012 Appropriation Act had only been 30 per cent implemented.

The CNPP said that it is imperative that the Federal Government hearken to the lawmakers’ call because over the years, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led Federal Government has, in spite of unprecedented oil revenue failed to advance the welfare of Nigerians, a development which it claimed brought about the Boko Haram insurgence, kidnapping and other social vices.

It said: “We are at a loss how the gross unemployment, dilapidated infrastructure and decadence of social services can be addressed without the implementation of the budget. Or is it the Boko Haram insurgence, as President Jonathan claimed, that is distracting the government from implementing the budget?”

Okechukwu said that the government has no excuse for not implementing the budget fully, since the price of oil, which in its wisdom, the government has pegged at $72 per barrel has been hovering between $90 and $100.

Recalling with nostalgia how the $43 billion saved in the Federation Account in the years preceding 2007 by former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, under the same guise of non-implementation and pegging of budget was fleeced off without any infrastructure to show for it, the CNPP said that: “Is it not a shame that during late General Sani Abacha’s regime when the oil price hovered between $15 and $18 per barrel, the regime’s project profile execution towers above that of the government of the day?”

“Daily Post” gathered from competent sources that Oduah who is the Federal Minister for Aviation is a major shareholder of one of the indicted oil companies, Sea Petroleum and Gas Company Limited [SPG] which jointly collected a whooping sum of N230,184 billion on Premium Motor Spirit [PMS] volume of 3,262,960225, liters but which was not supplied SPG, sources said was registered on May 3rd, 1998 “to carry on the business of licensed bunkering of petroleum and other mineral oil in all its branches”. SPG’s registration number is 221250 while it has three other Directors apart from Stella Oduah, Erotomi Buwa and Elizabeth Stewart.

Also, the former Head of State, Genera Abubakar [Rtd] who is the major shareholder in Maizube Petroleum Limited is indicted with the report.
Abubakar holds 600,000 shares in the company registered in 2003 with a one million share capital. Maizube has two other Directors namely Abubakar Isah and Abubakar Aminu.
It was gathered that the leadership of the House of Representatives is desperately pushing for the implementation of the committee report and has allegedly sent copies of the report to the presidency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC], Police and State Security Services [SSS]..
However, it was further gathered that the President is under pressure from his advisers to relieve the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah of her appointment in order to protect the integrity of his administration.
Sources disclosed that Jonathan is worried by the involvement of the minister and influential Nigerians in the Oil subsidy scandals, which according to the sources had brought panic to the President’s mind on how to dismiss the Minister.
The sources added that the indicted Head of State is buzzing all contracts to forestall the implementation of the oil subsidy report; the powerful Nigerians have allegedly reached out to the Presidency pleading that the action be withheld on the committee’s report on the basis that the committee was vindictive and not thorough in its investigation.
Abubakar have also allegedly reached out to friends in the House of Representatives and those from his state and the six geopolitical zones to block the committee’s report at publicizing the report until they find away to obviate their purported indictment.

ANTI-CORRUPTION SERMON: SSS Now After Tunde Bakare?

Nigeria's secret police, the SSS, has invited fiery Lagos Pastor Tunde Bakare to explain the content of his Sunday sermon asking President Goodluck Jonathan to resign from office.
Pastor Bakare was invited to meet with the State director of the SSS at its Shangisha offices in a Lagos suburb for a 4 PM meeting.
The fiery Lagos pastor and political activist yesterday delivered a damning sermon titled: "How To Change Government Peacefully And Make Society Better".
The pastor leads the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) which has had the government in an uncomfortable stare-down in recent times. In December 2010, the group visited President Jonathan in Abuja in connection with its advocacy of certain public policies.
On its way out of the presidential villa, the group was handed a $50,000 bribe, which it refused. The embarrassed government explained that the money was not a bribe, but “transport fare.”
Pastor Bakare eventually ran for vice-president on the ticket of the Congress for Progressive Change. As pastor or political activist, he has always strongly criticized anti-people policies.
